Exploring wine in and around San Francisco.

Wine Events: Week of May 7

If you want to feel good about yourself, I highly recommend pouring chilled whites and rosé on a sunny warm day. That’s what I did at Arnot-Roberts on Saturday, and man I felt like the most popular guy in Healdsburg. Everyone wanted a piece. Or at least a pour. Really more of the latter. Anyhow, a big thanks to those of you who came by — it was great to see good friends and sip some wine up in the ‘burg.

But enough about me.

Wed., May 9: Wind Gap Wine Dinner @ Grand Cafe (FiDi)

Grand Cafe
501 Geary Street
San Francisco, CA

Three Courses / Two Wines $68

Looking like a pretty tasty menu, and the wines going with those dishes are dope. Well, not literally, but you get what I’m saying. [Oh, and the Wind Gap release day party is just around the corner!]

Thurs., May 10: Lioco Wine Tasting @ Arlequin (Hayes Valley)

Arlequin Wine Merchants
384 Hayes Street
San Francisco, CA

6:00pm – 8:00pm – $20

You know, every now and then you think you know a winery well, and then they throw a curve ball at you. But in a good way. Last time I was at the Lioco tasting, I was ready for the Chard and Pinot Noir I’ve come to appreciate from this producer when, out of nowhere, owner Matt Licklider throws out a Pinot Blanc from Monterrey and BOOM. Instant taste sensation. Matt may have a few more tricks up his sleeve when he pours at Arlequin this Thursday.
