Beth Lemke bills her new establishment as “The Wine Bar Where Friends Meet,” and that definitely seemed to be the case at the Grand Opening fete over the weekend. I attended the first evening of festivities on Friday, October 15th, but the celebrations continued on both Saturday and Sunday, as locals, guests, and visitors alike welcomed Pacifica’s first wine bar. Many Pacifica residents contributed to the creation of this new venue, which showcases the wares of local food purveyors and local artists.
Friday evening’s event featured a ribbon cutting with representatives from the Pacifica Chamber of Commerce, a champagne toast, and a number of drink specials. The attendees were an eclectic mix of young and old, locals and city-folk, friends and a few welcome strangers. By 6pm, the intimate space was packed and rocking to the beat of live saxophone music.
Beth originally intended to open a café, but later decided on a wine bar – as she describes it, a “coffee house for grown-ups.” While the bar has been open for business since springtime, this past weekend’s grand opening officially marks its debut. As shown over the past few days, the venue offers a great meeting place for friends who want to enjoy wines by the glass or bottle, along with live music, coastal breezes, and the background sounds of ocean waves. Visitors can also purchase bottles “to go,” at a discount of 30% of the listed bottle price.
In addition to the international selection of wines, AGITF also offers a variety of unique beers, some simple sharing plates and desserts, and non-alcoholic beverage options. It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking to get away from the city noise or if you find yourself thirsty on your way down Hwy 1.A Grape in the Fog 400 Old County Road, Pacifica www.agitf.com (650) 735-5854
