Friday Foto: Copain’s Mendocino Vineyard

Copain is producing some of the best pinots in California.  Last year, I was lucky enough to take a tour of one of Copain’s Mendocino vineyard sites with winemaker Wells Guthrie.  This picture — with the rustic barn, beautiful blue sky  — is emblematic of the Copain’s wines:  earthy and elegant.

Copain’s Tous Ensemble blends are a great value (under $20 at K&L Wine) — try the pinot noir, syrah, and viognier.  Their single vineyard wines are remarkable.  I highly recommend the Hawkes Butte Syrah and the Monument Tree Pinot Noir.
