I sincerely hope your new year is off to a great start! As you can imagine, many local retailers and food/wine venues are recovering from a hectic holiday season, so there weren’t many events to report on this week, but I’ll be back next week with the regular weekly update.
In the meantime, I am happy to report that since my last blog post, Napa’s Cathy Corison was named the San Francisco Chronicle’s Winemaker of the Year. As the Chronicle aptly stated:
“After three decades of making wine, [Cathy Corison] shows that it’s still possible to make a complex, restrained Cabernet that honors California’s best traditions.”
I had a great visit with Cathy back in March (see this post) and shared a bottle of her 2001 Napa Valley Cab with friends on New Year’s Eve. I hope you’ll find some time over the next few months to stop by Corison if you’re in Napa, or open up a bottle of her wines so you can see why she has so many fans in the wine industry.
